How can you make a difference?

You, as the WASH Officer, report to the WASH Specialist (Level 3) in Gaza for supervision. The WASH Officer provides technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process. The Officer prepares, manages and implements a variety of technical and administrative tasks, related to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH output results of the country programme.

You will specifically work on the partnerships with implementing partners for the implementation of the WASH programme.

Minimum requirements

Education: Advanced university degree in Public Health, Social Science, Behavioral Science, Engineering-Civil, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering and any other related fields.
Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Water & Environmental Sanitation, Humanitarian Assistance, Public Health, Humanitarian Response, Emergency Preparedness, Programme Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Partnership Management, Capacity Building, Policy Advocacy, Resource Mobilization. and any other related fields.
Skills: Strong experience in Programme Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Humanitarian Response, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, and Behavior Change Communication is required.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Desirables

Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language
Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts, considered an asset.
Experience in integrated and synergy programs including UNICEF programs, UN projects and health, education , WASH cluster and AoR partners is an asset
Experience providing technical oversight and leadership, supervising field teams and extenders, supporting programme planning, monitoring implementation progress, preparing donor or management reports, and following up on implementation risks is desirable.
Experience coordinating with WASH cluster actors, including government counterparts, municipalities, utilities, UN agencies, NGOs, WASH Cluster/Sector working groups, or local service providers is required
Experience in hygiene promotion, risk communication, community engagement, accountability to affected populations, social and behavior change communication, or public-health-related WASH awareness activities is desirable.
Experience supporting or managing WASH programme implementation, including field monitoring and evaluation , review of partner/contractor’s deliverables, technical guidance, quality assurance, reporting, and follow-up on agreed workplans is desirable
Demonstrated experience working with implementing partners, including NGOs, civil society organizations, government counterparts, municipalities, or service providers, in the planning, implementation, monitoring or oversight of WASH interventions. Additionally, experience with HACT procedures including developmental of Program Agreements/documents, DCTs and pertinent financial transactions is an asset
Demonstrate experience in localized and decentralized WASH solutions and interventions including durable, semipermeable, nexus and transitional projects and interventions is required
