The internships are envisaged for a period up to 6 months with various start dates throughout 2026 and 2027. The internships are UNPAID, full-time and in-person; i.e. 5 days per week (40 hours). Duties and Responsibilities

The Human Resources Management Service (HRMS) within the Division for Management (DM) of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is offering internship opportunities across different teams. Our interns are valued members of HRMS, contributing to impactful projects within UNOV and UNODC while gaining insight into the broader work of the United Nations Secretariat. Responsibilities may include:

Administrative support to different teams within HRMS;
Creating content for internal communication to promote strategic priorities;
Conducting independent projects that might involve research, drafting proposals, and preparing speaking notes and presentations;
Preparing statistics and reports;
Supporting the preparation and delivery of workshops and meetings, including scheduling, material preparation, registration management, participant communication, and hosting webinars;
Assisting with planning, organizing, and running social media campaigns;
Performing other administrative tasks and providing general support to the assigned team, as needed. This job opening will be used to fill multiple internship positions within HRMS. Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Office at Vienna, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION); Be computer literate in standard software applications including MS Office 365: MS Word, OneDrive, SharePoint, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Forms, etc.); Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. For these particular positions, studies in the field of Business Administration, Human Resources, Education, Communications, Social Sciences, Humanities or other related degrees would be desirable. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the positions advertised, fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
