The Office of Strategy and Evidence - Innocenti provides leadership across UNICEF and is accountable for the areas of data, research and evidence generation, foresight, knowledge, and assure development effectiveness through strategic planning, monitoring and results & risk management. It drives the evidence to globally position the Organization on all child related issues, monitor SDGs and serves as the institutional lead for excellence in data, research and foresight on children and child rights to primarily support the national governments and stakeholders' as well as United Nations and the global community to progressively realize the rights of the child everywhere.

By integrating data generation and use, research and foresight with programme effectiveness, OSE informs and strengthens the acceleration of progress towards SDGs, delivery of the Strategic Plan’s results for children at country level, contributes to thought leadership, and helps anticipate emerging challenges, thus, making sure that Country Programmes are informed and respond to national priorities for children according to different contexts, including humanitarian.

OSE sets global standards, provides Organization-wide oversight and governance of evidence for the effective and methodologically sound and ethical collection, production of publications, disclosure and use of data, research and knowledge, and validates the quality of evidence, including the development of standards, tools, and systems for capturing, sharing, and applying learning across all levels of the organization.

As a Digital Impact Assistant at UNICEF Innocenti (Florence), you’ll play a key role in delivering fast, reliable first-line IT support to our dedicated team of staff and consultants. You’ll diagnose and resolve technical issues, escalate complex cases when needed, and ensure smooth operations across ICT applications and processes. Your work will include supporting routine ICT tasks, assisting with technology migrations, and guiding users through new tools and systems—helping us stay connected and effective in our mission for children worldwide.

What you'll do:

Deliver fast, friendly first-line IT support to keep our team connected and productive. Ensure smooth tech operations during UNICEF conferences and events. Keep ICT equipment and software records accurate and up to date. Maintain clear, helpful documentation for support processes. Share guidance and ideas to improve user experience and digital tools. Monitor the Message Broadcast mailbox to ensure timely communication. Take on additional ICT tasks that help our mission run seamlessly.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

Education: Completion of Secondary education is mandatory. Formal training at university level in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunication, Engineering is an asset. Training in appropriate disciplines, networking, telecommunications technologies, and computer-related certifications (e.g., A+ certification) is an asset. ITIL Foundation Certificate or equivalent customer support certification is an asset.
A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace 3 years of related work experience. A Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) may replace an additional 2 years.
Work Experience: At least 5 years of practical work experience in Information Technology Support, requiring systematic methods of troubleshooting and analytical problem solving is required.
Skills: Troubleshooting, Analytical Problem Solving, Technical Knowledge, Embraces Change, Manages Ambiguity, Drive To Achieve.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.

Desirables:

Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language (Italian) is an asset.
Experience in providing assistance to users on IT products and services, as well as use of applications and diagnostic tools is desired.
Practical experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 technologies is desired.
Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
