How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision and guidance of the Deputy Representative (Programmes), you provide specialized programme and administrative support to facilitate the development, implementation and monitoring of UNICEF's programmes under the oversight of the Deputy Representative (Programmes) and provide support to the Social Policy and Evaluation and Research team. Your role will involve substantial engagement in data analysis, budget tracking, reporting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and compliance with organizational rules. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to anticipate needs and challenges, and the capacity to coordinate effectively across the office. It also demands the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive matters, while consistently upholding the organization’s core values. Incumbent exercises judgment, anticipates needs, and recommends actions that contribute to programme planning, implementation and reporting results.

Job organizational context:

The Generic Job Profile for the Programme Associate at the G-6 level is to be used in a UNICEF offices, in one of the programme sections. The Programme Associate (G‑6) is embedded within Programme Section, reporting to a Supervisor or Section Chief. This role bridges operational delivery by liaising regularly with multiple units—Programme, Operations, Finance, Supply—and with external partners (government ministries, NGOs, donors). Depending on the programme priorities, the Incumbent may support sector‑specific teams (e.g., Health, Education, WASH) or cross‑cutting portfolios (e.g., humanitarian action, M&E, emergency preparedness).

Minimum requirements:

Education: Completion of secondary education is required. Professional and/or university courses related to the field of work are highly desirable.
Work Experience: At least 6 years of relevant work experience in Administration, administrative experience, clerical work experience. and any other related fields.
Skills: Administration, Data Analysis, Reporting, Coordination, Grant Management, Budgeting.
Language Requirements: Proficiency in English is required.

Desirables

Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish)
Pashto language, Dari language, Persian language is an asset.
Relevant university study is an advantage.
Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
