The Fada Field Office is located in eastern Burkina Faso and covers four regions: Nakambe, Goulmou, Tapoa and Sirba.

Based on the previous administrative/territorial division, the East region is the 4th region most affected by the security and humanitarian crisis after the Sahel, Centre-Nord and Nord regions. 60% of internally displaced people (IDPs) are children and deprived of their rights to education, health, protection, and healthy environment.

The Fada Field Office will play a key role in advancing the objectives of the 2027–2030 Country Programme, which adopts geographic and demographic targeting as a key implementation approach. Covering the regions of Goulmou, Sirba, Tapoa, and Nakambé, areas that face some of the highest levels of child deprivation in the country, the Field Office will be central to ensuring that program interventions effectively reach the most vulnerable children and populations, thereby contributing to more equitable and impactful results.

Given the public health and humanitarian challenges in the Area of Responsibility, the position requires strong capacity to lead multisectoral field programming, with expertise in health or public health. The incumbent will provide strategic oversight of interventions that strengthen access to essential health services, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, immunization, disease prevention and surveillance, community health, emergency preparedness and response, while ensuring effective integration with nutrition, WASH, education, child protection and social policy.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of the Chief Field Operations, you as the Chief Field Office (CFO) is accountable for managing and leading the total programme commitment of a field office within a country programme. You will represent UNICEF in your Area of Responsibility (AoR), leads and oversees the various program sectors and operational service teams ensuring the delivery of quality results in accordance with UNICEF’s programme of cooperation, country programme management plan and overall vision set forward by the Representative.

In fragile and humanitarian contexts, UNICEF action is guided by its global Policy and Framework for humanitarian action: the Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action.

Minimum requirements

Education: An advanced university degree in public health, medicine, epidemiology, health policy and management, global or international health, health systems, community health, or another relevant health-related technical field is required.
Work Experience: A minimum of five years of professional work experience in program management, planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation and any other related fields.
Skills: Health Programming, Health Systems, Project management, Human Rights Awareness are required skills.
Language Requirements: Fluency in French and intermediate/ working knowledge of English are required.

Desirables

Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) or a local language
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and field office in complex, fragile, insecure or humanitarian settings is highly desirable.
Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
Familiarity/ background with emergency context is considered as an asset.
Experience working with government health authorities, UN agencies, humanitarian coordination mechanisms, civil society and communities is an asset.
Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
