This internship is for a period of 3 to 6 months, and is designed to be conducted in person, for thirty-five (35) hours per week but can be adapted to accommodate hybrid arrangements on an exceptional basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) is responsible for providing leadership, operational support and oversight of the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) globally. Within assigned authority, the intern is expected to undertake the following duties:

  • Support with information analysis requirements.
  • Conduct preliminary research using publicly available information.
  • Support with visualization and preparation of presentation decks.
  • Support with research, analysis and briefing notes.
  • Fulfil other duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet the following conditions: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above).
