Duties and Responsibilities
The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is the most inclusive intergovernmental platform in the Asia-Pacific region. The Commission promotes cooperation among its 53 member States and 9 associate members in pursuit of solutions to sustainable development challenges. ESCAP is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations. The ESCAP secretariat supports inclusive, resilient and sustainable development in the region by generating action-oriented knowledge, and by providing technical assistance and capacity-building services in support of national development objectives, regional agreements and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. ESCAP also provides support to partners at the national level. ESCAP’s national offer is rooted in and linked with the implementation of global and regional intergovernmental frameworks, agreements, and other instruments. The Division of Administration (DA) is responsible for the overall planning, development, management and delivery of all administrative support required by ESCAP to fulfill its mandate in an efficient and cost-effective manner, ensuring that the Commission adheres to the established UN regulations, rules policies and procedures in all operational areas. The internship programme is for a period of two to six months, depending on the needs of the division. The intern is to report to the People Operations and Talent Acquisition Unit of the Human Resources Management Section (HRMS), Division of Administration (DA). The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Human Resources Management Section. Daily responsibilities will vary and depend on the individual's background, including but not limited to:
- Assisting in social media outreach (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter)
- Conducting recruiting outreach
- Assisting with administration related to the internship programme
- Implementing and maintaining social networking campaigns
- Assisting with communication materials related to recruitment
- Coordinating with different stakeholders
- Compiling statistics related to recruitment
- Generating a variety of standard data entry using databases in Excel
- Reviewing and providing input on the design of HR dashboards and compilation of statistical data
- Providing administrative support to ongoing projects
