Duties and Responsibilities
The Language Intern will directly report to the corresponding UN Web TV website Language manager under the overall guidance of the Chief of the Unit. The Intern will contribute to the daily live and on-demand streaming coverage of United Nations meetings and events through the UN Web TV platform (https://webtv.un.org). The candidate will be trained to use a cloud video platform to upload videos along with relevant language metadata for publishing on the UN Web TV website. The intern may also assist with the live and on-demand streaming on Social Media accounts, including the UN Youtube channel, Facebook (UNWebTV) and Twitter (UNWebTV) as well as with other tasks.
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations New York Headquarters Internship Programme, Department of Global Communications, the following conditions must be met: 1. Applicants must: (a) Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). 2. Be computer literate in standard word processing and spreadsheets software applications; Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. The Cover Note must include: - Degree Programme (What are you currently studying?) - Graduation Date (When will you graduate or when did you graduate from the programme?) - List the IT skills and programmes that you are proficient in. - List your top three areas of interest. - Explain why you are the best candidate for this specific internship. - Explain your interest in the United Nations Internship Programme. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
