Duties and Responsibilities
This internship is located in the Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP) in the Division for Special Activities (DSA) in the Department of Operational Support (DOS) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The mission of the United Nations DOS is to provide operational advisory services to operating entities across the Secretariat, including other departments, offices-away-from headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions. DSA oversees a range of specialized or cross-cutting operational capacities. A large part of its responsibilities is to support start-up, surge, and transition requirements and to exercise authority on behalf of entities to which authority has not been granted, owing to a lack of capacity, or from which authority has been temporarily withdrawn. TPP is one of the outcomes of the September 2014 Summit on UN Peacekeeping and aims to enhance the Enabling Capabilities for peacekeeping. TPP comprises the United Nations supporting Member States and Troop and Police-Contributing Countries (T/PCCs). The Intern reports to the Programme Officer. This is a full-time, unpaid internship for a period of up to six months, which may be shortened to five months depending on Programme’s circumstances. Our interns work as members of our team in the TPP/DSA; pursue projects that are designed to make a significant difference in DOS and have opportunities to learn about the United Nations overall. Responsibilities: Under the general guidance of professional staff of the Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP), the intern will support information management, meetings, reporting and coordination within designated areas. Interns will have opportunities to undertake one or more projects (e.g. drafting articles, conducting interviews, or delivering internal presentations), subject to Programme requirements and in consultation with the Programme Officer. Knowledge Management:
- Assist in the organization of substantive materials related to the work of TPP in support of TPP engagements.
- Assist in the collection and consolidation of information related to the development and outcomes of TPP trainings.
- Assist in the preparation of briefing information on the work of TPP.
- Provide assistance in the design and development of products in support of TPP’s high level engagement.
- Develop and maintain records of meetings, action items, background materials for TPP meetings and other high-level engagements. Planning and Coordination:
- Support the planning and coordination of TPP trainings in multiple locations.
- Support to the coordination of TPP meetings.
- Support to the preparation of background documents, monitoring and note taking.
