Duties and Responsibilities
The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (full time - 40 hours). The UNODC Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP) is mandated to provide governments of countries of the Southeast Asia region with technical assistance to enhance the capacity of law enforcement agencies, justice-delivery services, and health authorities. This includes the role that UNODC plays as the Secretariat to the Memorandum of Understanding on Drug Control in the Greater Mekong Subregion (the Mekong MOU), where UNODC provides strategic and technical support to the drug control authorities in the Mekong. The intern will report to the Regional Coordinator of the Mekong MOU. The intern will provide assistance to the organization and coordination of activities and events to be carried out by the Secretariat of the Mekong MOU. Tasks included:
- Draft concept notes, invitation letters, and related correspondence for planned programme activities, ensuring alignment with UNODC standards and formats.
- Provide translation and interpretation support for documents, communications, and materials between English and Chinese, maintaining accuracy and appropriate terminology.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations, meeting documents, and verbatim or summary meeting minutes for workshops, consultations, and technical meetings.
- Design, administer, and summarize evaluation and feedback forms for capacity-building activities and events, and compile findings into structured summaries for internal use.
- Draft activity reports, including narrative summaries of outputs and recommendations for follow-up actions, in line with donor reporting requirements and programme objectives.
- Support the development of web stories, social media content, and advocacy and communications materials to promote the work and visibility of the Regional Office.
- Conduct research and literature reviews on topics related to drug control, including emerging trends, legislative developments, and regional responses, to support programme analysis and reporting.
- Support drug trend analysis by conducting daily collection and compilation of drug seizure data from open and programme sources, and contributing to monthly trend analysis reports to inform regional drug control assessments and response strategies.
- Provide general administrative and programmatic support to the Regional Office and undertake other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
