Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the United Nations Office for Partnerships. Guided by the priorities of the UN Secretary-General, UN Partnerships is the gateway to the UN system to connect and co-create partnerships to deliver solutions to reach everyone, everywhere. In its role as a connector, UN Partnerships proactively engages, convenes and leverages stakeholders, initiatives and solutions in support of the Decade of Action to keep the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). UN Partnerships oversees the SDG Advocates programme, the UN Fund for International Partnerships (UNFIP), and the UN Democracy Fund (UNDEF). The incumbent will support all initiatives of the UN Partnerships and report to the Chief of Section of UN Partnerships, and work closely with other members of the team.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Associate Administrative Officer will be responsible for the following duties: Human Resource Management:
- Undertakes actions related to the administration of the UN Partnerships’ human resource activities and supports the Executive Director on governance and human resource issues ensuring consistency in the application of UN rules and procedures.
- Provides information to UN Partnerships’ team regarding conditions of service, duties and responsibilities, and privileges and entitlements under the Staff Rules and Regulations.
- Provides information to inter-governmental bodies on UN Partnerships’ staffing needs for inclusion in the Office workplan. Budget and Finance:
- Assists in developing the UN Partnerships’ work program and budget; works with the Finance team to analyse inputs and formulate resource allocations by work program, or business processes.
- Works with the Finance team to monitor budget/work program with respect to UN Partnerships’ budget, UN Democracy Fund and grants, on a regular basis, and reallocates resources as necessary. General Administration:
- Supervises support staff as required.
- Works with key clients to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned Sustainable Development Goals-focused programmes and intiatives.
- Performs other related administrative, project management, and partnership duties, including outreach and communications, facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects as required (e.g., operational travel programme, monitoring and evaluation of projects, accounts and payment to vendors and individual contractors for services, physical space planning and the identification of office technology needs and maintenance of equipment, software and systems).
