Job Description
Drive accurate and compliant payroll operations by providing essential support across compensation processing, query resolution, and data management.
The United Nations Office for Project Services Global Shared Service Centre (GSSC) was established to deliver efficient, standardized, and cost-effective transactional services that strengthen the operational capacity of UNOPS worldwide. The GSSC provides high-quality support in key areas including personnel contract administration, payroll, finance, and accounting.
For young professionals, working at the GSSC offers a valuable entry point into the United Nations system through essential back-office service delivery functions. The Centre provides a dynamic, collaborative, and development-oriented environment that enables staff to gain practical experience, build professional competencies, and develop a strong understanding of UNOPS operations and the broader UN system.
The presence in Thailand is anchored by the Global Shared Service Centre (GSSC). This unit was specifically established to provide internal, global, and cost-effective transactional services that enhance the overall operational capacity of UNOPS. By standardizing systems and procedures from its Bangkok hub, the office ensures that the organizational infrastructure remains robust and capable of supporting global mandates from a centralized, high-performing location within the region.
The Shared Services Centre (SSC) delivers policy guidance, operational support, and high-quality transactional services to UNOPS offices globally, including administrative support for HQ and Copenhagen-based personnel. SSC comprises three core teams: HQ Administration & ICT Helpdesk, Corporate Administration, and Health, Safety, Social and Environment (HSSE). As a client-focused and value-adding partner, we contribute to organizational effectiveness by enhancing cost-efficiency, streamlining administrative operations, strengthening compliance, and mitigating risk across service areas
Under the guidance and supervision of the GSSC Payroll Manager and the day-to-day guidance / direct supervision of a Payroll Officer / Payroll Senior Officer, the Payroll Assistant supports the provision of payroll services in the GSSC and ensures high quality, accuracy, and consistency of work. The Payroll Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach consistent with UNOPS rules and regulations.
The Payroll Assistant supports the accurate and timely administration of payroll services provided to personnel. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring compliance with UN/UNOPS rules and regulations, maintaining data integrity and confidentiality, and contributing to efficient financial and human resource operations.
