Duties and Responsibilities
Within the delegated authority, the incumbents will be responsible for performing the following duties with the following modalities: In-person, Remote, Hybrid, Full-time, Part-time, or a combination thereof, as determined by the hiring unit: 1. Financial Data Integration & Reporting: Extract and compile financial data from two systems (e.g., ERP and supplementary financial reporting tools); Support monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reporting processes; Reconcile financial data across systems and identify inconsistencies; Assist in preparing financial dashboards and summary tables for management. 2. Data Analysis & Insights: Perform trend analysis on expenditures, commitments, and budget utilization; Identify anomalies, variances, and patterns in financial data; Support variance analysis between budgets, actuals, and forecasts; Contribute to interpretation of financial results for decision-making. 3. Financial Storytelling: Translate raw financial data into clear narratives for management and stakeholders; Prepare concise financial commentary accompanying reports; Highlight key risks, opportunities, and performance trends; Support the development of executive-level financial summaries. 4. AI & Data Tools Application: Use AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Power BI AI features, Excel advanced analytics) to automate reporting tasks; Support development of predictive or descriptive analytics models (where applicable); Improve efficiency in report generation through automation and scripting support; Assist in cleaning, structuring, and validating datasets for AI readiness. 5. Visualization & Reporting Enhancement: Develop charts, dashboards, and visual tools to present financial data clearly; Support improvements in reporting templates and formats; Ensure clarity, consistency, and usability of financial reports. 6. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Have you completed a UN Internship before? If yes, please make sure you are listing it in your experience including the UN entity as well as concrete dates. Analytical and Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to interpret financial data and trends; Excellent written communication skills for reporting and narrative development; Attention to details – Accuracy with data analysis; Ability to work with large datasets and maintain accuracy under deadlines; Interest in AI tools and automation for financial processes.
